Eligibility requirements for individual grants:

  • Applicants must have a spinal cord injury.

  • They must demonstrate financial need and may be required to provide documentation.    

  • There is no age requirement; however, they must reside in the United States.

  • Applicants must request specific modifications or equipment.

    • Partial Payments toward larger items will only be considered if all other payments are already in place for the total amount.

  • Eligible items include, but are not limited to:

    • Mobility and Living: Wheelchairs, vehicle modifications, and home modifications.

    • Physical Health: Exercise equipment and various types of adaptive equipment.

    • Assistive Technology: Voice-controlled home automation, specialized software, or adaptive gaming and input devices that facilitate digital independence.

    • Mental Health and Wellness: Items or adaptations that promote community reintegration and improve psychological well-being.

  • It is up to the applicant to explain how this grant will improve their quality of life and provide a clear pathway toward greater independence.

  • Grants are disbursed directly to suppliers of the desired equipment or modifications. Estimates from potential suppliers are required before making a request.

  • Incomplete applications will not be considered.

  • Our grant cycles occur twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall. To stay updated and receive notifications when the application periods open, we encourage you to sign up for our mailing list.

  • If awarded a grant the individual must supply the Foundation with pictures of equipment purchased and a description of how the grant enriched the individual’s quality of life, which may be used for promotional materials.

  • Grants run on average $3,500, however, there is no minimum award and a maximum of $20,000.
